Communicating science is hard. That process is not getting any easier as the size and complexity of research data grows, the analytical techniques become increasingly sophisticated, and the problems we are trying to solve increase in complexity. As we have seen with issues that affect broad swaths of society such as COVID19 and climate change, we as scientists need to consider how to better garner trust in complex research that may affect the daily lives and/or health of the public. This panel will discuss the growing need of research assessment to include the communication of science to a variety of stakeholders: from fellow researchers to policy makers to citizens.
