Community Discussion on Open Metadata

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Many initiatives that call for open metadata are seeing successes while some are at the beginning of their journeys. Let's get our heads together to share lessons learned from groups like I4OC, I4OA, Metadata 20/20 and others to determine what has worked and what needs more attention. We will discuss priorities - citations? abstracts? licenses? relationships? as well as a strategy to join campaigns together to create a super-advocacy group, possibly working within the FORCE11 structure, to speed up progress.

  • Welcome and aims of the session (Ginny)
  • What have we learned from open metadata efforts? (Ginny, Laura, Catriona, Heather, Rachael)
  • What metadata are we still missing? High-level data analyses (Bianca)
  • Where should we as a community focus next? (Group prioritisation acvitity & discussion)
  • How do different categories need to be addressed? (All)
  • Conclusions & making a plan for concrete next steps (Cameron)

Come and join to kickstart the next metadata movement!

[Thanks also to Ludo Waltman, Paolo Manghi, John Chodacki, David Shotton, and Silvio Peroni (along with hundreds of other volunteers) - for the rich discussions leading to this point]
